Tenants Home Contents Insurance Scheme

Redditch Borough Council administer the contents insurance scheme on behalf of AON UK Limited; the scheme is underwritten by Aviva, and claims are dealt with by Crawford & Company.

AON UK Limited will be the Data Controller of any personal data associated with providing you with an insurance policy; they decide if they can offer insurance to you and if so on what terms and also to administer your policy, handle any claims and manage any renewal. 

The Council will act as a Data Controller for the administration of the scheme; they will process your application to AON UK Limited and process yours payments.

If you do not provide the information, we may not be able to proceed with your application or any claim you make. It is your responsibility to inform the council of any change in circumstances.  The scheme is only available to tenants of Redditch Borough Council.

The legal basis for the processing of data under the administration of the scheme is fulfilment of a contract to which the data subject is party, or for the taking of steps at the request of the data subject with a view to entering into a contract.

Convictions and offences are classed as special category data, and is processed in accordance with Article 10(1)(b), ‘Special categories of personal data and criminal convictions’.

The data collected is:

  • Name
  • Contact details
  • Date of birth
  • Details of family members
  • Residency
  • Convictions or offences relating to you or a family member.

This information will be shared within the Council, specifically the Insurance Department and the Income Department, and with AON UK Limited.    AON UK Limited privacy notice can be found here. The Council will retain your information for 6 years following the end of the policy.  

This information will not be shared/sold to any other service/organisation unless we have a duty to do so under law. This data will not be transferred outside of the EEA.
