Armed Forces Covenant

Worcestershire signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2012, showing its commitment to ensuring that serving personnel, veterans, and their families are treated fairly.

The Worcestershire Armed Forces Covenant Partnership brings together local councils, public services, charities, the police, public health teams, Armed Forces Champions, and the Army Welfare Service to support the Armed Forces community, particularly veterans who may face challenges during or after service.

The Partnership aims to:

• Strengthen links between the Armed Forces and local communities.
• Improve access to support and services for service personnel, veterans, and their families.
• Better understand the needs of the Armed Forces community in Worcestershire.
• Address key issues through an agreed action plan.
• Raise awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant among employers, businesses, and local communities.

The Partnership is coordinated by Worcestershire County Council as part of its ongoing support for the Armed Forces community.

Redditch Borough Council's Commitment

Redditch Borough Council signed the Armed Forces Covenant in May 2023, demonstrating its commitment to being a forces-friendly employer and organisation.

Employer Recognition Scheme

In November 2023, the Council received the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, recognising its support for serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families in the workplace.
