Redditch residents are asked to come forward to help catch ‘perpetrators of a heinous crime’ after a starved dog, who could barely walk was found.

The dog, thought to be a female staffie, was emaciated, covered in sores, scabs and mange, with overgrown nails and suffering from anaemia. She has been named Piggly Wiggly by Worcestershire Regulatory Services Animal Welfare Officer Pip Griffin after being picked up in the Redditch area.

She said: “We should be ashamed that this type of neglect and cruelty is still happening in our country. The state of Piggly Wiggly moved some of the most seasoned workers in animal care to tears.

“I am absolutely sickened and I implore you to help us find the perpetrators of this heinous crime so they can be brought to justice and prosecuted for inflicting this immense suffering to another living creature.”

Piggly Wiggly has seen the vet and has been placed in an experienced foster home for her long road of recovery.
