Corporate Governance

The Council's Corporate Governance arrangements

Redditch Borough recognises the importance of effective corporate governance so that local communities can place trust in the way that the Council undertakes and carries out its duties.

Corporate governance is defined as the "system in which local authorities direct and control their functions and relate to their communities".

The Council is required, as part of its Statement of Accounts, to produce an Annual Governance Statement (AGS).  The AGS is a statutory requirement under the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015.  It provides a corporate overview of governance arrangements.

It is based on CIPFA / SOLACE principles of good governance.  It include systems, processes, culture, and values guiding the Councils operations.  The AGS enables monitoring of strategic objectives and ensures value for money and stewardship of public funds.

To enable the Council to evidence good governance, a review of its corporate governance arrangements has been completed, in line with national best practice, guidance and the CIPFA/SOLACE Framework.

The latest version of the Council’s AGS can be found in the 2024/25 Statement of Accounts.
