Two Dogs Starved To The Bone

An appalled Worcestershire Dog Warden is calling on residents to help after two dogs, she described as “bags of bones”, were rescued.

Robinson Crusoe, a Bully type breed spent a week in intensive care and was so emaciated she could not even stand and collapsed several times as her breathing was so bad. When Wilma, a Cocker Spaniel type was found every rib and even the fine pin bones were showing.

Both dogs were found separately in the Wychavon area last month.

Worcestershire Regulatory Services Senior Dog Warden, Pip Griffin said: “Heartless people intentionally starved these defenceless creatures and watched them suffer. “It is cruelty beyond belief and these are just two of the many cases we face each week across the County.”

Pip urges residents with information about the two dogs or with any concerns about the safety of other pets they have seen, to get in touch.

“We need to work together to stop this monstrous behaviour and to stop these cruel people being able to own animals. Not only are beautiful creatures suffering, but their medical bills cost the taxpayer money. “And please think twice before you get a pet – they are hard work and expensive – and, as always, adopt don’t shop.”
