Redditch raises flag for Armed Forces Day

A special flag has been raised in Redditch for Armed Forces Day this Saturday (June 28).

The Mayor of Redditch, Cllr Joanna Kane, led the ceremony yesterday (Monday) alongside dignitaries including members of the 37 Signal Regiment, Redditch Borough Council, and the Redditch Royal British Legion.

The flag is flying outside Redditch Town Hall all week to raise awareness of the role of the armed forces and to celebrate current, past and future generations of servicemen and women.

Cllr Kane said: “I was deeply honoured to lead the ceremony with members of the 37 Signal Regiment and the Royal British Legion, thank you all, and thank you too to the members of Redditch Borough Council for your support. But most of all, to all our wonderful Armed Forces community, our service families, veterans, reservists, and cadets - a huge thank you. This flag is a symbol of the close ties we share in our community.”
