Plans Approved for Enhanced Innovation Centre

New plans for an Innovation centre in Redditch have been approved following being submitted in July 2025.

The centre, which will be built on the former police station site, is part of a multi-strand set of projects which were approved following the creation of a Town Improvement Plan. The public realm works to Unicorn Hill and Church Green West have now been completed as part of the same programme of works.

The brand-new centre will provide the town with a mix of high-quality office space, rentable lab space, and a range of shared amenities like meeting rooms, reception facilities, and networking spaces.

The centre will also be host to a wide range of business support services, all aimed at creating a collaborative and supportive business environment.

Leader of the Council, Cllr. Sharon Harvey, said: “The development of a facility like this, right in the heart of the town will enable our local businesses, as well as new ones, to grow and thrive. The centre aims to provide an environment that will allow small and growing businesses to enhance their offerings, learn in a collaborative space, and take that next step of renting premises in a lower risk way. Innovation has always been strong in Redditch, and this project continues to foster this legacy.”

The submitted plans boasted more square footage meaning that an increased number of businesses can be housed within the Innovation Centre. Now, with the ability to host up to 40 businesses at a time, there will be a strong focus on innovation and digital connectivity.

Designed to act as a springboard for local businesses, spaces will be available on short term leases. Enabling small local businesses an opportunity to expand their operations surrounded by like-minded businesses and individuals without the need to sign long term leases with their associated risks.

Construction is scheduled to commence in 2026, Links have already been formed with Heart of Worcester College, to identify opportunities for construction and marketing students to get involved. A move made to champion collaboration with young people in the town.

Following the recent good news of the planning application being approved, sights are set on the Innovation Centre to open its doors for business in by the end of 2027.
