Mayor’s summer fundraiser a resounding Sax-cess
The Mayor of Redditch hosted her late summer fundraiser in style by raising over £1,500 for a local charity.
The chosen charity of this year’s Mayor, Cllr Joanna Kane, is Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre, and the fundraiser proved a summer delight.
Attendees were treated to a selection of canapés on arrival, followed by a hot buffet, and an evening of live saxophone music performed by the talented Shadow Sax. The evening concluded with a charity raffle.
Mayor of Redditch, Cllr. Joanna Kane, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in, and contributed to, the evening. The Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre provides vital care and support across Redditch, and I am very proud that Primrose is my chosen charity for my year as Mayor.
“At the end of her life, my mother-in-law received care at her home from her local hospice, so I have seen for myself the huge difference that hospice support makes to patients, their carers, and their families.
“The total of £1,667.57 raised will help towards the continued support of patients and their loved ones in and around our borough.”
Guests included the Leader of Redditch Borough Council, Cllr Sharon Harvey, plus Cllrs Monica Stringfellow, Juma Begum, and Claire Davies as well as David Burrell, the CEO of the charity.
David Burrell, CEO of Primrose Hospice, said: “This was a wonderful evening in a stunning location raising essential funds to support our community. All our services are provided free to anyone who needs them. I am extremely grateful to the Mayor for all the support so far this year and for choosing Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre to benefit from her time in office.”
The event was held on September 12th at The Boathouse Café, Arrow Valley Countryside Park.
