Heritage Open Days 2025 Schedule Released

Returning for another year, Redditch Borough Council have partnered with heritage organisations across the region to promote a jam-packed Heritage Open Days Festival.

Heritage Open Days is the largest festival of free heritage events in England. For ten days organisations are encouraged to host events, open their doors, and welcome in their communities for free. Supported by the National trust and People’s Postcode Lottery, the festival is designed to break down barriers and encourage residents to find the hidden gems right on their doorstep.

Across Redditch there are events taking place between the 12th and 21st of September 2025.

New for this year, the Council are encouraging visitors to visit as many events and locations as possible for the chance to win exciting prizes as part of their Heritage Hunters campaign.

Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Recreation, Cllr Juliet Barker Smith, said: “Heritage Open Days celebrates the heritage we have on our doorstep, and this year is no different. Organisations have once again excelled to put on interesting and exciting events, which we have the pleasure of helping them promote. Heritage Hunters gives residents the perfect excuse to explore their local area, visiting as many events as they can for the chance to win prizes. I encourage everyone to have a look at the schedule and see which events they fancy visiting.”

Events range from pop-up galleries to tower tours spanning the entire ten-day period.

The festival theme for 2025 is ‘Architecture: buildings, bridges, and beehives’. From being home to a mosaic installation from the influential Paolozzi, to Bordesley Abbey which was home to Cistercian monks – Redditch is not short of architectural interest.
