Christmas Message From Redditch Borough Council Leader Cllr Sharon Harvey

“It’s the time of year where we reflect on the last 12 months and look forward to the next.

“Having picked up the mantle of Leader of Redditch Borough Council earlier this year, it really has been a whirlwind and packed with moments of which I am really proud.

“We have invested in and launched a team to combat damp and mould in our homes, set up a homelessness prevention fund to help families in need, refurbished our play areas and rolled out a new fleet of bin lorries.

“Most recently we have, in collaboration with Bromsgrove, Malvern, Worcester City and Wychavon councils submitted a proposal for a two unitary authority to Government, the decision for which will be made next year.

“With this in mind, 2026 will be just as busy as plans for the Innovation Centre are to come before our committee for decision and we continue to focus on our priorities including our communities and providing clean, green and safe space for everyone. The refurbishment of the Town Hall is moving at pace and in 2026 we will see a public building fit for the future, delivering public facing services once again.

“So lots of accomplishments to reflect on and ambitious projects to come – and I look forward to keeping you up to date on all of them.

“In this festive message I’d like to recognise Redditch’s wonderful diverse communities which may be celebrating this season in a different way. I also want to acknowledge our community groups who are the backbone of our Borough and work hard all year round to promote health, well-being and happiness across Redditch.

“I’d also like to remember those people for who Christmas can be a challenging time and I hope you will join me by taking time out of the flurry of the festive season to spend a few moments talking to or visiting someone who may be alone or struggling. A kind word goes a long way.

“Finally I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas - and my best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year.”
