The Mayor of Redditch
Councillor Joanna Kane
It is a huge privilege to have been elected as the Mayor of Redditch. I pledge to do my best to serve this wonderful borough and all its communities.
The key theme for my Mayoral year is inclusion.
Having always lived in the West Midlands; I moved to Redditch 30 years ago and am proud that it is my home.
I started my career as a local journalist and then moved into public relations and communications, working for a variety of organisations. These have included the Civil Service, the NHS and the West Midlands Combined Authority.
Since 2022, I have served as a borough councillor, firstly for the Greenlands ward and then the new Greenlands and Lakeside ward from May 2024, when I was also elected Deputy Mayor.
I am particularly interested in supporting voluntary groups and promoting Redditch as a great place to live, work and visit.
The mayor’s charity is the Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre.
In my spare time, I am a keen campervanner. Over the past 20 years, I have travelled throughout the UK and Europe in a motorhome with my husband and son.
The Mayor’s Consort is my husband, Mr. John Kane. The Deputy Mayor is Cllr David Munro.
