Join the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Greenlands and Woodrow and to make sure community voices are at the heart of important decisions.
What does a Neighbourhood Board member do?
The Neighbourhood Board will be led by independent Chair, Pete Martin. Most Board members will either live, work, or have a strong connection to the neighbourhood.
As a Board member, you'll help champion the community by:
- Identifying local priorities and opportunities
- Listening to and engaging with residents
- Helping shape plans for the area
- Contributing to decisions about how funding is invested
- Supporting improvements to local facilities, services and infrastructure
The Board will work closely with Redditch Borough Council, which acts as the Accountable Body. This means the Council is responsible for ensuring funding is managed correctly and all legal and funding requirements are met.
What will be expected of Board members?
Board members will be asked to:
- Take an active part in Board meetings and discussions
- Help develop, deliver and review the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Plan
- Work collaboratively with fellow Board members, residents and Redditch Borough Council
- Consider the needs of the whole neighbourhood when making decisions
- Agree and work within the Board's Terms of Reference once adopted
Meetings are expected to take place monthly, although they may be more frequent in the early stages while the Neighbourhood Plan is being developed.
Who are we looking for?
We want the Board to represent the community it serves.
The Board must have at least eight members, with the majority (at least 51%) living or working within the boundary.
We welcome applications from people of diverse backgrounds, including those who live or work locally or have a strong connection to the area, to help ensure the Neighbourhood Board is representative of the community it serves.
We're particularly looking for people who can demonstrate:
- A genuine commitment to improving the area
- An understanding of local opportunities and challenges
- Experience of community involvement, volunteering or local activities
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work well with others
- Sufficient time to commit to the role
Successful applicants will be required to declare any conflicts of interest and will be expected to follow the Board's Code of Conduct and the Nolan Principles of Public Life. Details of which can be found here.
