Redditch Borough Council tenants who may be struggling with their finances are being urged to get in touch during the upcoming ‘rent free weeks’.

During the two weeks commencing March 20th and 27th the council will not be collecting rent for tenants whose rent accounts are clear of debt and up to date.

Officers want tenants who are currently in debt with their rent to get in touch and arrange payments during the rent reprieve to help them sort their finances out going forward.

The council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, Cllr Craig Warhurst, said: “We understand times are hard and not only can tenants use these two weeks to clear their arrears, but we can also provide debt advise and signpost people to support to help people get back on their feet during these challenging times.”

Tenants can get in touch by contacting the council's Housing Revenues team.

The council has brought together a range of support to help people affected by the cost of living.

Council Leader, Cllr Matt Dormer, added: “This council continues to work with partners, during the cost of living challenges, to bring together all the financial support available across the borough and we can signpost our residents to the right agency to help them.”

The council’s non collection weeks this year were 29th August and 19th December 2022, and 20th and 27th March 2023.
