With the potential lifting of restrictions not far away, and hopes for the resuming of arts, leisure and recreational activities, Redditch Borough Council are inviting residents to give their views on the future of leisure provision in the borough.

Residents who live in Redditch or those outside of the area who visit for recreational purposes, are being encouraged to take part in three short surveys to give their views on arts, culture, heritage, parks, open spaces, physical activity, recreation, and exercise, in the wake of the pandemic.

The surveys aim to collect data that can be used to understand what residents and visitors consider important to current and future provision of leisure and cultural services. This information will help shape the future planning and development of services and facilities for the next 10 years.

Leisure Portfolio Holder, Cllr Mike Rouse, said: “As a council we are consulting with our residents more than ever, and this leisure consultation is our most expansive consultation yet.

“This is a very real opportunity for local people to shape the future of a key local service, and it will be delivered for the next 10 years. We have got to get this right, and so it’s really important we get the views of as many people as possible – especially young people who are notoriously difficult to engage when doing surveys.

“So, my message is to not just fill out the survey yourself, important though that is, but please encourage a young person you know to complete it too.”

These surveys take approximately 5 mins each to complete (15 mins total) and will close on 22nd August 2021

All three surveys are available at www.redditchbc.gov.uk/consultations.

The Council have commissioned 'Leisure and Cultural Strategies' to consult on this project and assist with building a strategy for leisure services going forward.
