Residents are being reassured that the closure of three one stop shops across the Borough will still see Council services being accessible.

From April 1 the doors will close at offices in Woodrow, Winyates and Batchley.

Warning Sign TinyCoronavirus update: These offices are now closed, earlier than originally scheduled, and will not reopen. Customer service is available at the Town Hall with significant safety measures in place including access to some services being by telephone only. Essential visits only are recommended, for your safety and the safety of others. Please read our Coronavirus info page here.

Over the last three years there has been a reduction in 60% of customer enquiries and 85% of these visits were to pay for Council services.

The implementation of the allpay system for rent and council tax, means there's more locations and opening times for people to access to complete their business.

The Council’s Portfolio-Holder for Corporate Management, Cllr David Thain, said; “This is not a reduction in services but a reallocation of resources.

“By closing the shops, which benefit just a handful of people we are saving nearly £60,000 a year which will benefit all of our residents.

“We are also investing in our website and our Town Hall staff are always happy to help whether this be by telephone or in person.”
