New Year, New You – it’s the same story for lots of people every year and it’s also statistically one of the hardest times to lose weight or achieve fitness goals.

Redditch Borough Council are inviting residents to take part in a FREE 12 week NHS Better Health weight loss plan which is proven to help people make positive changes, live healthier lifestyles and sustain them.

The council will be offering education and exercise support alongside the NHS Better Health App with course members able to review the app guidance on a weekly basis and build these into their daily routines.

The FREE sessions, will be starting from Friday 15th January 2021 at Arrow Valley Lake Visitor Centre, 10am to 11am, and are open to any resident looking to improve their health and make sustainable changes to achieve weight loss.

Arrangements for a weekend session are also in progress with more details available in the New Year. Anyone who is interested in attending the weekend session is encouraged to get in touch via the details below so that officers can determine the demand for this.

Mike Rouse, whose portfolio covers Leisure Services, said: “Like a lot of people I have struggled through 2020, stuck working from home and not moving as much as I should or eating healthily enough. As we look forward to a better 2021 the council is here to help support our residents who want to get started with a new approach to diet and exercise. I recognise that 10am on a Friday morning won't suit everyone, but I hope those who can make it will come along."

The plan is broken down into 12 weeks so you can:

  • Set weight loss goals
  • Plan your meals
  • Make healthier food choices
  • Get more active and burn more calories
  • Record your activity and progress

If you are interested in getting involved with the Better Health programme or would like to ask any questions, please contact Hayley Gwilliam on 01527 881404 or email
