Photo and video tributes in funeral services, and even private live streams for loved ones who wish to attend from afar, are now available at Redditch Crematorium.

Upgrades to the facility mean families can now choose to have their own media displayed on screens during their service, invite loved ones to watch their service privately online, and have recordings of the service made.

Cllr Brandon Clayton, Redditch Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: “We’re delighted to give people more choice in how they attend and remember their loved ones with these latest improvements and modernisations to our beautiful crematorium. People will be able to display cherished pictures or video during the service, to help support the grieving process, and to allow for even more personalisation of tributes during services.”

The additions expand the range of funeral service and memorial options available at the award-winning crematorium, which provides a service not only to local residents but also to people from further afield.

Cllr Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, added: “Just because Redditch is in a central location doesn’t mean some people aren’t faced with long travels, even across continents, to say their final farewell. That can be too much, and by putting this cutting edge technology at people’s fingertips we provide more options, and make another of our services even more accessible to even more people.”

The new services are provided via a ‘Wesley Media’ system, through which people can choose to upload pictures and video for their service, select music, and provide private log-ins to loved ones so they can watch a live video stream known as a webcast. It also allows recordings of services to be made in various formats.
