Residents may see some disruption early in the New Year as works to improve parking around Batchley’s lower shops begins.

From Monday 6th January, works will begin to the road and parking area which runs behind the shops on Batchley Road. The works will develop a new one way system and enhanced car parking area which will see traffic enter at the mini roundabout and exit near Tesco Express.

As part of the scheme there will be also landscaping, tree removal and replacement works, new signage and improved drainage taking place alongside the works to the road.

The work is expected to take approximately 8 weeks to complete and should finished by the end of February, weather dependent.

Guy Revans, Head of Environmental Services, said: “It is hoped that the new one way system and improved parking area will help keep traffic in this area flowing. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to complete the work as quickly as possible.”

This work will be completed by the council’s contractor Kelbec Civils Ltd on our behalf.
