Eighteen more students are better connected after completing a computer course, for beginners, hosted by Redditch Borough Council.

Excel, word and publisher were just some of the programmes which the learners picked up top tips on.

The course was put on as part of the Council’s commitment to providing access to computers and encouraging residents to access services online.

Yesterday, after completing the eight-week course, the students were presented with their certificates by Cllr Juliet Brunner, whose portfolio covers Customer Access and Financial Services.

She said: “As a Council we are dedicated to providing more ways for people to contact us, particularly to apply for benefits or pay for services.

“So it makes sense for us to put this course on to help our residents to get in touch with us, other agencies and even their family and friends.

“With these new skills they can manage their own finances at the touch of a button, apply for jobs or fill in tricky online forms.

“Computers can be daunting if you’ve never used one so these certificates are very well-deserved!”

There’s limited spaces on the next courses, which start next week, (Aug 6 and 7).
