R18107 Next Rounds Of Parking Improvements Announced

The next year of parking improvement schemes in Redditch has been announced at the unveiling of Redditch Borough Council’s latest completed works.

The improvements in Exhall Close (North) have created around 30 new car parking spaces, improved old parking spaces, created several wheelie bin storage areas, and substantially cleaned up the area.

They were the twelfth set of improvements in a continuing borough council public realm scheme that has been bringing residents across the town significantly improved parking since 2009, in projects ranging from £10,000 to £150,000.

A thirteenth project, in Clifton Close, under which garages are being removed and 12 new parking spaces created, is also almost complete.

Cllr Brandon Clayton, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “We’re delighted to announce the next tranche of parking improvements after completing this relatively big Exhall Close project. Bit by bit we’re doing them all and we know parking is key for so many residents.

“Next year we can confirm the programme is due to visit Willow Way, Abbotswood Close, Ashton Close, and Foxlydiate Lane, and there may be more to follow.”

Under the scheme the borough council transforms pockets of older infrastructure in consultation with residents, turning under-used garage complexes or difficult or ageing areas into cleaner, safer spaces that are a better fit for people’s needs today. Sites are prioritised for the works according to their assessed need.
