Redditch Borough Council is inviting all those with a connection to Redditch to submit their stories as part of their latest cultural project.

As part of the bid for Town of Culture 2028, the council are pleased to launch “Mapping Redditch’s Beating Heart of Culture”. A project powered by the passion of the community, capturing the places, stories, and moments that make Redditch what it is – past, present, and future.

Putting local people at the heart of the story Redditch is telling, you will be able to submit stories, memories, locations, and photos to show that culture runs deep in Redditch. From the hidden gems you stumble upon to landmarks that remind you you’re home. The fun fact you share every time (despite everyone having already heard it) to the story you tell when trying to convey the importance of Redditch to someone who hasn’t visited.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Sharon Harvey, said: “This project is about telling everyone else what the people of Redditch already know. Our culture lives in everyday places, memories, and creativity – not just in institutions. We’re asking residents to get involved, tell the stories that matter to them, and show that Redditch really is a town with a bit of everything. History, heart, talent, and an exciting vibrant future.”

This project invites people to participate in the story we tell of Redditch, creating something that reflects the diversity of voices, neighbourhoods, and identities that make Redditch unique.

Culture doesn’t just live in buildings or institutions, it lives in our people, our memories, and everyday places. So, whether it’s a childhood memory, a favourite place to relax, memories of a local performance, or anything in between, complete the form and add it to the map of Redditch.

Redditch Borough Council submitted an Expression of Interest to the Government at the end of March 2026 to be considered for UK Town of Culture 2028. It is expected a decision will be known about whether the town will be invited to submit a full application in Spring 2026.
