Residents invited to latest Community Walkabouts

Residents are being invited to join the latest Community Walkabouts in Redditch, giving them the opportunity to discuss local issues directly with council officers, partner organisations, and community safety representatives.

The next new walkabout will take place at Winyates Centre on Wednesday 7 October, bringing together representatives from agencies like Redditch Borough Council, Worcestershire County Council, West Mercia Police, and other local partners to listen to residents and discuss issues affecting the area.

And, following a successful visit to Woodrow in July, a follow-up walkabout there will also take place on Wednesday 30 September to review progress on actions already taken and identify any further priorities.

Residents are encouraged to come along and share their views on the issues that matter most to them, from community safety and environmental concerns to wider neighbourhood priorities.

Cllr Ashley Monk, Redditch Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Services, said: "If you have concerns or ideas about your neighbourhood, these walkabouts are a great opportunity to speak directly to the people who can help. I would encourage residents in the Winyates Centre and Woodrow areas this time to come along, raise the issues that matter to you, and help shape future improvements in your community. As landlord to almost 6,000 Redditch households it’s especially important to the council that our tenants have these opportunities to shape the services we provide, but it’s absolutely open to the whole community."

The walkabouts, organised by the council's housing service, are designed to provide an opportunity for residents, local organisations, and partner agencies to identify concerns, discuss priorities and work together to improve neighbourhoods.

Council Leader, Cllr Matt Dormer, added: "Everyone deserves to feel safe, heard, and proud of where they live. Community Walkabouts help us listen to tenants, residents, and local stakeholders, so we can understand local priorities and work with partners to make a real difference in our neighbourhoods."

Join the walkabouts shortly before 3pm outside the shops on Wednesday 30 September for the Woodrow follow-up, or on Wednesday 7 October for Winyates Centre.
