Father-daughter crew members Paul and Kim are back with a festive Garden Waste announcement for Redditch residents.

Social media saw the return of the jedi-loving pair this week who went viral earlier in the year for their TikTok talents.

Filmed just before lockdown number two, the pair are back again to let Garden Waste Customers know that for the first time, Garden Waste collections will be continuing throughout the winter and rolling into next years’ service with just a two week break (w/c 21 and 28 December) for the crews to enjoy Christmas and New Year with their families.

The service, which serves customers in both Redditch and Bromsgrove, usually ends in November and begins again in February/March but was ceased for several weeks earlier in the year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The extended service aims to make up for the missed collections and support residents in making the most of their gardens and get the full value of their garden waste service for the year.

The service will resume week commencing 4 January or 11 January (depending on which collection sequence customers are on) and will run into 2021 with the renewal period remaining in February.

Cllr Brandon Clayton, whose Portfolio covers Environmental Services, said: “I know that the extension of the Garden Waste Service will be greatly welcomed by our customers who enjoy gardening all year round. I have to say a huge thank you to Paul and Kim for another brilliant, light-hearted instalment in their TikTok series to help get important messages out to our residents. All of our crews, garden waste and general waste, have continued to work extremely hard on the front line this year and deserve the thanks of the whole borough.”

The council will monitor how well used the service is during the extension this year, and if there’s enough demand will look at how this could be built into the service in future years, so please make the most of this whilst you can.

Residents who do not already have a garden waste collection but are interested in signing up for one, can contact our Environmental Services team to discuss this with an advisor.
