Batchley residents are being asked for their views on new parking areas off Hawthorn Road.

Residents living in Hawthorn Road, Foxlydiate Crescent and Rowan Crescent are being asked for their views on proposals to remove some minor landscaping and green space to make way for eighteen new parking bays.

The improvements will create new, much-needed car parking spaces in this busy area and will also include new railings and new solar powered, energy efficient lighting.

Before actioning any plans, Redditch Borough Council are seeking to consult with local residents who will be affected by or benefit from the proposed works to find out whether they are happy to lose open space for parking and whether the plan provides sufficient additional parking for their needs.

Residents who live in this area can have their say at: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/HawthornRdCarParking/ or by typing “consultations” into the search bar of our website.

The survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete and will close on 29 January.

Environmental Services Portfolio Holder, Cllr Peter Fleming, said: “We are keen to hear the views of local residents who live near the proposed scheme in Batchley to find out what they want and what works best for them so that we can deliver a practical solution.

“We are carrying out improvement works on our estates every year, as we know parking is key for so many residents. There are areas of our town where parking amenities are no longer fit for purpose for modern day life. We aim to continue unlocking the potential of these areas to make life better for our residents.”

Under the scheme the borough council transforms pockets of older infrastructure, in consultation with residents, turning under-used garage complexes or difficult or ageing areas into cleaner, safer spaces that are a better fit for people’s needs today. Sites are prioritised for the works according to their assessed need.

Please note, whilst all residents’ views will be read and considered, we ask that residents do not provide their personal information, complaints or requests in the survey’s comment boxes as these will not be replied to. We also ask that only residents who are directly affect by the scheme complete the survey. Any other queries or requests for new parking schemes in other areas should go through our Customer Services Team on 01527 64252.
