The tender is out to run the brand-new café and toilets in Redditch’s Morton Stanley Park.

Redditch Borough Council is inviting businesses to bid to run the café, which would grant the successful bidder a contract for up to ten years.

Redditch Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Procurement, Cllr Craig Warhurst, said: “Our proposed contract to run the café in Morton Stanley Park is now available to all on our procurement portal. We’re pleased to offer this opportunity to run something that people in Redditch have talked about for some time, and I hope we’ll see some solid proposals come in.”

Leader of Redditch Borough Council Cllr Matt Dormer said: “Now that we’ve built the café and toilets that people told us they wanted in Morton Stanley Park, it’s time to get a great tenant in to run it. This has the potential to really level up the popular park for its users.”

The café opportunity, which closes on March 11, is available to view along with all the council’s contract opportunities at www.redditchbc.gov.uk/procurement.

The new café and toilet building is set to open this spring on the East side of Morton Stanley Park, next to the car park off Windmill Drive.

The 95-acre park was left to the people of Redditch by local industrialist William Morton Stanley (1840-1924). Today, his former farm and cottage is a rich mosaic of natural habitats and things to do, set in a historic landscape of open mown grass, wildflower meadows, veteran trees, ponds, and woodland walks.

The new café will complement the range of popular facilities in the park, including football pitches, play areas, skate park, and zip wire.
