Market traders in Redditch will be able to set out their stall in space within the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Space for stalls is being made available at no extra cost to traders following conversations between Redditch Borough Council and the town’s central shopping centre.

Redditch Market ends this month after the borough council did not renew the contract for it, owing to a combination of factors including major public realm improvements and Covid-19 restrictions.

Redditch Borough Council’s Head of Planning and Regeneration Ruth Bamford said: “The Kingfisher Shopping Centre has made space available for traders to continue to ply their wares. It’s a good opportunity for traders at this difficult time.”

Ken Williams, manager of Kingfisher Shopping Centre, said: “I am delighted to be able to provide temporary accommodation of the valued independent traders. I would hope to work with the traders to protect and increase their business. It’s been a tough year for all high street retail and leisure businesses, and by working together we can find new opportunities and provide the community with the products and services they want.”

Interested traders should contact the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on 01527 405800.
