Redditch Residents are reminded that funding is still available to help them heat their homes after 16 households were helped by a county wide scheme.

Recently, 16 low income households in Redditch with health conditions worsened by the cold benefitted from a Worcestershire wide ‘boilers on prescription scheme’* which was promoted at the district council’s Warmer Winter events.

Now that this scheme, which was run by the County Council on behalf of all partners, has finished, residents who might have missed out are being reminded that they can still access funding for energy efficiency improvements via the borough council.

The Redditch Energy Efficiency Fund (REEF) provides help with improving heating systems for owner occupiers with a household income less than the Worcestershire average of £37,000.

Eligible applicants for the Redditch Energy Efficiency Fund can access additional funding towards new heating systems, loft and cavity insulation as well as help with boiler repairs and servicing.

Cllr Mark Shurmer, whose portfolio covers housing services, said: “We might be heading into spring but now is the time to think about next winter before cold weather sets in again – it could keep you warm and save you money in the long term. If you think you might be eligible to receive help from the Energy Efficiency fund, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
