Group Exercise

After the success of Tai Chi sessions in Oakenshaw, more residents will now get the opportunity to attend a class.

As a result of the popularity of the other class which started in March, there will now be a new Tai Chi class in Winyates to help more residents improve strength and reduce stress.

Starting on 2nd May, the additional classes will take place on a weekly basis at the Winyates Craft Centre and will run from 5.30pm until 6.30pm. The classes will cost £3.30 per 1 hour session and are available as pay as you go.

Tai Chi, a method of mind and body exercise rooted in ancient China, is a gentle form of exercise that focuses on slow controlled movements and deep breathing to improve participants’ strength whilst helping to reduce stress and anxiety.

Hayley Gwilliam, Health Intervention Officer in the Sports Development team at Redditch Borough Council, said: “We are so pleased that these Tai Chi sessions have been so well received and are looking forward to reaching more residents in Winyates. These classes are a great way to start your fitness journey as well as providing a boost to body and mind. They are suitable for beginners and everyone is welcome to come along and have a go.”
