A skate park in Astwood Bank will be closed for three weeks – but that’s so an even better facility can be put in place!

The base will be created out of reinforced power floated concrete, to give a smoother ride, and changes include the replacement of the metal ramps which will mean reduced noise.

It will be more sustainable and provide a larger ‘wheeled sport’ space and the design has no ‘hidden options’ which means there will be less opportunity for arson to happen here.

Redditch Borough Council’s Parks Officer Jackie Boreham, said: “This design has been drawn up following consultation with a local school and a lengthy consultation process.

“We hope the skate park will be open in time for the time Summer holidays and will be even better than ever!”

The current skate park, and immediate areas around it, will be closed from July 3.
