Abbey Stadium HIT Studio

Three brand new, state of the art workout studios are now completed and ready for visitors to use at the Abbey Stadium.

The Abbey Stadium now boasts a ‘HIT Studio’ designed for more intense classes such as GRIT Strength, Plyo, Cardio and Body Pump, a ‘Dance, Mind and Body’ (holistic) studio for classes such as Body Jam, Sh’bam and Body Balance and a new and improved Cycling Studio for RPM and Sprint classes.

All the studios now have state of the art mood lighting and equipment such as Les Mills “revolutionary” Smart bars and 23 brand new Keiser M3I bikes.

As well as experiencing the new top-end, best on the market bikes, which boast 24 geared resistance levels, fully adjustable handlebars, LCD display screens and Bluetooth and wireless capabilities, gym users will now also have the opportunity to enjoy Virtual Indoor Cycling (VRPM).

This means that users can do a spin or RPM class at any time of the day to suit them with world-leading Les Mills fitness programs, pumping sound and motivation from some of the best instructors on the planet – all virtually!

The three studios will be officially opening on Saturday 14th January at the Abbey Stadium’s next open day – Tryanuary – where visitors, both members and non-members, can see the new studios and try out classes for free.

Cllr Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers leisure and cultural services, said: “I am really looking forward to the open day later this month and hope to see lots of resident’s trying out new activities that they might otherwise not have the opportunity or inclination to try. The studios have been a great development for the Abbey Stadium and aim to cater for the needs of all of our current and future members.”

Samantha Bevan, Class Instructor at the Abbey Stadium, said: “The new studios are excellent and I can’t wait to teach classes in them. They are more than just rooms and a lot of work has been put into them to give them a great atmosphere as well as extra space. Now all we need is the energy from the visitors taking part!”

The new studios will be adding an extra 15 classes to the Abbey Stadium’s timetable which will be effective from Monday 16th January after the official opening.

The Tryanuary campaign is designed to encourage resident’s to try a new sport or activity in January instead of taking on drink dryathlons and ‘new year, new me’ type resolutions.

The open day will also see free swims*, gym challenges, smoothie tasting and much more for visitors to try out and enjoy.

The new studios are part of a circa £300k development which took place at the end of last year and has now been completed.
