Local people are invited to have their say on how they would like to see Morton Stanley Festival improved, at a special meeting next Monday.

Redditch Borough Council’s Arts and Events Team are holding the meeting on 13th March in the Civic Suite at the Town Hall to discuss current arrangements, potential new ideas, fundraising and income generation opportunities and suggestions from residents - as both performers and audience - to make the event sustainable in the long term.

Cllr Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers Leisure Services, said: “Morton Stanley Festival isn’t your typical festival because it is so deeply rooted in the community and this is something we want to take advantage of. This is the people’s festival, whether you’re a performer, audience member or both and we want to make the most of this by inviting local people to have their say. Come to the meeting, share your thoughts and your ideas could become a reality.”

John Godwin, Head of Leisure Services, said: “This is a unique opportunity for people of all ages, circumstances, hobbies and demographics, to mould a ‘new look’ Morton Stanley Festival. Sometimes it is necessary, particularly in these economic times, to have a fresh pair of eyes – with new, interesting and refreshing ideas – to create something great. Morton Stanley Festival gets more popular every year but we need you to help us to build a bright, exciting, creative, bold and beautiful future for it.”

The meeting will run from 6pm until 7.30pm.

This year Morton Stanley Festival will be held on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August.
