Walk For Health

Arrow valley Health walkers are coming together for coffee and cake at Forge Mill next week to help promote their sessions.

The coffee morning is open to everyone and is designed to encourage residents to join in with their free, friendly health walks as well as promoting the sessions to anyone interested in becoming a walk leader.

The coffee morning will be held at Forge Mill Needle Museum from 12 noon – 1pm on Monday 5th June.

The group, which is supported by Redditch Borough Council, walks on Mondays and Thursdays starting from the Arrow Valley Visitors centre at 11am.

Monday walks are suitable for all, including beginners or less able walkers, whilst Thursdays offer more of a challenge, suitable for confident walkers. Walking is a great way to get active, meet new people and explore your local area.

Val Wilson, Events Officer and Scheme Coordinator for the walks said: “Our walkers have a great deal of fun and walking is a great way to get active, meet new people and explore your local area. Our volunteer walk leaders help all sorts of people to enjoy the many health benefits that regular walking brings, providing support every step of the way. If you think you might be interested in learning more, feel free to pop along to Forge Mill next week.”

Walking counts towards the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity people should be doing each week. Only 61% of adults in England are currently meeting this recommendation, but walking offers a free and simple solution.
