The Council’s Parenting and Family Support Service are delighted to announce that they have been presented with a prestigious award for the services they provide.

The Parenting and Family Support Service were awarded the CANparent Quality Mark in June, which is the only quality standard that has been developed for the parenting sector.

The team are thrilled to have received the award which will further increase and give added assurance to parents, partners, communities and commissioners that the service provided is of the highest quality and based on evidence that works. In order to achieve the award, the groups provided by the service were required to meet a number of criteria with the four overarching categories being:

  1. The group can be relied on by parents to make a positive difference, it is evidence based, monitored and evaluated to improve parent/child relationships.
  2. Parents can rely on the integrity of the class provider, its professional conduct, competence, financial and governance systems, and data protection/confidentiality, to ensure suitability to deliver a class.
  3. The group is recommended by other parents.
  4. The group is responsive, warm and relational, engaging with parents and builds on these effective relationships to meet their needs.
  5. The Parenting and Family Support Service offer groups for parents and carers and one to one family support. They also work in partnership with providers within the local community to offer advice and guidance to all families.

Liz Griffiths, Parenting Operational Manager, said: “At our groups we promise you a warm welcome! The groups are informative, supportive and fun and we receive great feedback from parents who tell us about the changes they have made to family life following joining a group. If you are interested in joining a fun, approachable and quality award winning group then please do get in touch to talk things over.” For more details contact the Parenting and Family Support Team.
