Voluntary and community groups are invited to bid for the latest round of grants of up to £500 from Redditch Borough Council.

‘Stronger Communities’ grants support local, community-focused projects and the second round of applications for this year opens on Monday 15th May.

The last round of Stronger Communities grants saw the development of an over 55’s club; support for a community event in Batchley this summer; practical support for a mental health friendship and support group; the restoration of community flower beds including ‘hands on’ gardening experience for local families and children; the setting up of a monthly ‘Food & Friendship’ club to support refugees, amongst several other activities.

Head of Community Services Judith Willis said: “What could your community group use a grant of £500 for? If you are a voluntary or community group and you are thinking about doing some kind of one-off community-focused project, I would encourage you to get in touch with our team. In Redditch we have a really strong sense of community and this is in no small part due to the work carried out by people in organisations and voluntary groups who dedicate their time and skills.”

Stronger Communities grants are made available to groups, which do not have to be formally constituted to apply, in three rounds every year as part of the borough council’s wider annual grants programme.

Applications can be made until 4pm on Friday 9th June 2017. To apply, download an application form by looking at the voluntary and community sector funding pages.
