Parenting and Family Support Peer Support Volunteers
We have opportunities for volunteers to assist the Parenting and Family Support team to help the families of Bromsgrove and Redditch to build strong and secure relationships with their children.
What does the volunteering involve?
Volunteers will assist staff in a variety of training courses that are designed to give parents the skills and support to see them through their parenting journey. We can offer placements supporting the following groups:
- Birth and Beyond
- Triple P
- Understanding your Child
- Talking Teens
- Discussion Groups
Why should I volunteer?
There are lots of reasons why people volunteer with us. It is a great opportunity to become involved in your local community, meet new people and be part of a team. This will look great on your CV and also help to build confidence and learn new skills.
What training and support will I get?
It is important that volunteers feel confident in their roles and we will provide support and training to help you achieve this. The training you will receive will be dependent on the volunteering role you undertake. As a minimum, you will receive training in your chosen volunteering group, safeguarding training and an induction course tailored to you.
How much time would I need to commit?
This will depend on how much time you want to give. We can be flexible to fit in with you and your existing commitments. We have opportunities in the daytime within school hours as well as evenings and Saturdays.
What skills do I need?
Some experience of working with children and their families would be helpful but not essential. You will need to be approachable, friendly, committed and able to maintain confidentiality.
