Fare Increase

From the 1st april 2023 dial a ride journeys for all customers with a concessionary bus pass will be increased to £4.00 per single journey (and £5.00 for medical journeys)

Customers travelling without a concessionary bus pass will be increased to £5.00 per single journey (and £6.00 for medical journeys)

The yearly registration fee will increase to £16.50 for all of our customers

*promotional offer for customers who register with both dial a ride and shopmobility of £22.00 (with the new charges it would normally be £33.00 - £16.50 per service)

We wanted to explain the reason for the increase in fares.  It costs approximately £65000 per year to operate 1 bus – it is worth noting the cost of running a DAR bus with driver is approximately £250 per day.

The current fares do not cover half a day which leaves Redditch Borough Council to subsidise the rest with some grants we get from Worcestershire County Council.

The Council is constantly having to review its services, particularly in light of funding reductions, increases in fuel costs and maintenance of the buses; hence why we have had to look to increase fares to ensure we are able to continue to provide this service.

The Council values this service and this is a way to ensure its future viability - we hope our customers understand the reasons behind this difficult position.
