Worcestershire Heels Walk

Cllr Bill Hartnett, Redditch Borough Council Leader, said: “We continue to use this event to make a stand against violence towards women. Domestic and sexual abuse can affect anyone, no matter their age or gender. But did you know that the lasting effects of physical violence in an abusive relationship are greater in women? Shockingly, two women are killed each week by violent partners or ex-partners.

"Every year we invite everyone to show their support for victims, and their opposition to domestic abuse, by joining us on the walk.”

Here are some photos of this year's Worcestershire Heels Walk which was on November 27.

1 million victims a year

There are over one million female victims of domestic abuse in England and Wales each year, over 300,000 women are sexually assaulted and 60,000 raped each year. More than a third of reported rape victims are under the age of 16. On average two women are killed every week by a current or former male partner.
